About Me

Pat Hillcoat

Pat was born and educated in Montreal, Quebec. Drawing was always a hobby and after high school this love prompted her to study at “Studio 5316” , with the goal of becoming a Commercial Artist. However, a job opportunity in technology led her in a different direction and art was put aside. In later years, under the tutelage of Gerry at the VanDyke Art Studio she both studied and taught oil painting. Occasional success and encouragement given by many teachers over the years fed her passion to create and grow both in style and medium. Pat has participated in both juried and non-juried shows in Montreal, Huntsville, Toronto and Texas. Stimulated by the landscapes of northern Muskoka where she now lives, Pat continues to explore her love; working in both watercolour and acrylic.

"Each new creation is a surprise, charging my enthusiasm to paint again!"

Forest Ablaze

I started out as an oil painter, moved to watercolor with much suffering and most recently have transitioned to acrylics.  I love the new found freedom and look forward to growing and expanding my skills with this wonderful medium - pour it, use a knife, paint it, whatever you like the wonderful colours prevail".

Pat is a director for the Arts Council of Muskoka, a member of MAC (Arts Council of Muskoka), and a member of the Sun City Visual Arts Club and Williamson County Art Guild in Georgetown, Texas.
