This event is sponsored by the Hollingshead Gallery.&amp;nbsp; After a day in the sun, all paintings are auctioned off on the steps of the city hall.&amp;nbsp; It is a great event with the proceeds donated to the local high school art program.&amp;nbsp; outside in the sunshine?&amp;nbsp; If not, you should try it!&amp;nbsp; My good friend Sharon asked me to help her with this project for Pat and Tony.&amp;nbsp; Tony provided a photo&amp;nbsp;he had taken in&amp;nbsp;Santorini and said he would like&amp;nbsp;us to paint it&amp;nbsp;on a tiled wall on his patio.&amp;nbsp; We really did not know where to start, but we were definitely up for the challenge.&amp;nbsp;We planned, we drew, we traced and we painted.&amp;nbsp; We were in Sun City,&amp;nbsp;outside in the beautiful sunshine.&amp;nbsp; I am not sure why because I have always avoided painting flowers.&amp;nbsp; That is until recently - my two latest paintings are also flowers!&amp;nbsp; I entered both in the Sun City "Meet the Artist" exhibition and Jan Swanda bought &lt;em&gt;Spring Bloom&lt;/em&gt;.&amp;nbsp; I usually paint with minimal sketching, but I thought it would be fun to try something a little different. This is a picture that I just completed. I have been busy teaching an Acrylic painting class. It was a lot of fun, and my students did a great job. Lesson learned however, "if you are selling your art make sure that you are prepared for the void!". I was so happy to make a sale, but I do miss that piece which used to hang in my family room. Congratulations to the new owner, I hope you like your purchase.
